| For
the past decade Kaija Berzins Braus has been photographing
wedding celebrations for New York's most discriminating
families. Yet her passions for the fine arts, and
the art of photography in particular, date from her
early childhood in San Francisco. There, she often
visited the Bay Area's numerous museums and galleries
and had the opportunity to observe and study some
of history's greatest works of art - from paintings
and pastels to sculpture and photography.
After her family's move to
New York, Kaija elected to concentrate on the study
of photography at the High School of Music & Art
and Performing Arts, a facility where the New York
metro area's most gifted students are offered intense
studio training combined with a comprehensive academic
program of instruction. She continued her studies
in this medium at Bennington College, followed by
advanced courses at the International Center of Photography
("ICP"). As a Teacher's Assistant at ICP,
she obtained additional invaluable experience working
in the studios of several well-known New York photographers.
While a member of famed portrait and fashion photographer
David Seidner's studio, Kaija continued to evolve
her own highly individualistic style of photography,
finding particular fulfillment in capturing the joyous
moods of couples' wedding celebrations.
In 1993, she launched her own
studio, Kaija Berzins Photography, specializing in
fine art wedding photography. A boutique studio catering
to New York's most sophisticated clientele, Kaija
Berzins Braus Photography provides a distinctive level
of artistry and insight. Each couple's wedding is
memorialized by Kaija herself - not a staff photographer
sent by a large, anonymous agency.
Referrals from clients and
recommendations from editors of publications
where her wedding shots have been featured have succeeded
in making Kaija one of New York's most sought-after
wedding photographers.
